Going into the New Year, we all want to have a lifestyle reset!
There are always things we can improve and do better in our lives, and it can be hard to know what you should do in your life! So, from an outside perspective, I want to give you some ideas of things that could be good to try out!

This list is also for me… I know that I need to improve on some organizational things that would help me be more productive and live a more peaceful and happy life.
If you’re wanting a New Year lifestyle reset, then this is the place for you!
The New Year Lifestyle Reset
1. Get a Type A Planner
I got this planner about five months ago, and I am already getting another one for the upcoming New Year! I got the weekly planner version, and I am obsessed with it. But! Now I want the daily version with a day spread. It will help me more than I think!
If you want a cheaper option from Amazon, here is one that looks very comparable! It doesn’t include some of my favorite pages, like the meal planners, gift planners, and budget pages, but it does look nice for introducing yourself to a planner!
If you need some ideas of what to keep in a planner, look at what nicer planners have and see what you might find useful.
Now, I don’t use my meal planner pages every week, but I love that they are there and that I have access to them when I’m going grocery shopping!
2. Eat More Veggies
No seriously… Eat more vegetables. Even if that means they are drowned in ranch or oil. Vegetables provide fuel for your brain and body that help you feel better and I have noticed that it makes me more productive.
When I don’t eat vegetables for a day or two, I notice pretty quickly that I brain isn’t quite as fast and that I can’t think as clearly.

I keep frozen vegetables in my freezer that I can put in the air fryer with some oil and seasonings for when my meal needs some. I also like to add a bag of cauliflower rice to my white rice. This gives me an extra serving of rice, and I genuinely like the flavor. I add some salt and butter, and it tastes really great!
3. Have Chat GPT Help You Plan Things Out
I did this one time, and now I have a year’s worth of stuff planned. I asked Chat GPT to keep in mind that I am a Teacher and I wanted a Martha Stewart-esque calendar with things to do every day. I did have to prompt it a few times, saying that I wished to have some cleaning and home maintenance items in there, but it has really helped. I filled out my planner one time and now I just do whatever it tells me to do that day and I fill in other things that I need to do.
For example, the other weekend I had written down to clean my Google Drive. So I went through and I organized my Drive and deleted old documents I wouldn’t need anymore. It has been a game-changer.
4. Make Plans on Maintaining Your Things
Owning things means that you need to learn how to maintain them. The true way to save money in the upcoming year is to use what you have.
Learn how to sew, research things to clean and how to do it, declutter and recognize what you already have, and find a way to repurpose something. Anything you can do to give all your things life, will be worth it.
Today, I have been depilling my comforter with a razor blade. I didn’t want to buy a depiller, so instead I found a way to do it with things I have at home.
Think about what people used to do before we had all this technology. That will give you a good idea of things you can learn to take better care of things you own and yourself.
After getting some ideas, start adding them to your planner. I usually give myself one or two things to do a week that are out of the ordinary. Here is a PDF of things you can add to your list!
5. Learn to Make Your Favorite Foods From Scratch
I don’t always make my food from scratch, but when I have time, or I am balling on a budget, I like to transition to making my own.
Learning how to make some bagels for your breakfasts and freezing them so you have a homemade bagel every morning, or having homemade meals ready to go for throughout the week can save you time and money.
I know this feels like a lot, but once you make a few recipes, they will become muscle memory, and it will feel simple. It is nice to know that I can always skip buying groceries for a week or two because I keep various meats, baking ingredients, and dairy products on hand. Frozen veggies can also help you fill out a meal if you make a few things from scratch.
6. Go Get Shade Matched For Your Favorite Makeup Products
I always thought my skin would always look bad with makeup. This was all until I found a foundation that matched my skin perfectly.
Now, this was an accident. I picked up the wrong shade at the store, and when I got home I decided to try it and add concealer if needed to fix the shade. Turns out… the shade was perfect.
Having one foundation or concealer that matches you perfectly makes you feel so put together and makes putting on makeup effortless.
7. Be Realistic About The Books You’ll Read
It is nice and all to find books that you think you will like because it seems interesting, but if the only books you actually finish are fantasy or romance, then stick closer to those.
Occasionally, I am in the mood for a more educational book, but for the most part, books need to be an escape for me.
As a teacher and someone studying to become an actuary, I am learning and working my brain all day. I need my books to be something mindless and fun. If I have to force myself, or need to remind myself, to read a book, then I won’t finish it.
I do like the Libby app, though, mainly because I only have three weeks to finish a book. So I challenge myself to finish every book I get on Libby. I hate the thought of the library spending money on a book just for me to read the first 100 pages, then quitting.
