Fiction
1. Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
If you liked Knives Out then you will LOVE Inheritance Games. It is full of games, mystery, and questions that will leave you wondering what will come next. It is not scary, but it is a fun mystery series.
I had such a fun time reading this book that I want everyone else to read it so I have people to talk to about it. It kept me up late at night listening to the book and soaking up every minute of it. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I often relistened to chapters to fully absorb every single word.
2. The Butterfly Garden By Dot Hutchison
If you are interested in a scary book… then this should be your next read. It is creepy and suspenseful in a way that I have never experienced before.
I don’t want to say too much about it because that is what made this book so much fun for me. It has a little bit of Stockholm syndrome for the reader and it entrances you. You will want to keep reading the whole way through to double-check on your favorite characters and see how they are doing. You will love it!
And it is on KU if you aren’t wanting to spend money!
Fantasy
1. A Court Of Thorns And Roses By Sarah J. Maas (or anything Sarah J. Maas)
Genuinely, I have never read a book that has kept me so enthralled for so long. All I have been reading and listening to for months has been all of Sarah J. Maas’ books and devouring them along the way. They are all seriously engaging and entertaining that you will not want to read any other genre besides fantasy after these books.
*SPOILER*
How can you go back to regular romance novels with regular speaking when you could read about couples who can speak mind to mind… My standards in men are now unattainable!
*END OF MILD SPOILER*
2. The Only Purple House In Town By Ann Aguirre
I started listening to this book on Spotify (if you didn’t know you get 15 hours of audiobooks with your Spotify account then you are in for a treat!) and it is so cozy and nice! It is a light-hearted book that makes you giggle and smile the whole way through.
The amount of fantasy in the book is very minimal, but it has witches, fairies, etc.
This is such a nice book to read to get some fantasy and still feel easygoing and fun. I haven’t read such an easy-to-understand fantasy book since the Ex Hex (which is more of a fall book).
Non-Fiction
1. The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel A. van der Kolk
If you are interested in learning about trauma then this book is for you.. It dives deep into generational trauma and how it has affected our society as a whole.
This book goes through a slew of new treatments for trauma including yoga, meditation, and sports that can all help you improve your life. If you can’t afford therapy, this book is an amazing start to healing and growth.
2. The Secret Life of Groceries By Benjamin Lorr
Benjamin Lorr did an AMAZING job making this book encapsulating and interesting the whole way through. I had such a fun time learning which isn’t typical for me.
This book goes through how we get our foods from the farms to the trucks to the shelves. It was honestly a really fun read even when it was depressing and upsetting. If you are interested in learning how our food is brought to us, then you HAVE to read this book because it will make all the difference in how you see food.
Romance
1. Love, Theoretically By Ali Hazelwood
This book is all about a theoretical and an experimental physicist working together. If you love learning about a world that you don’t live in then this is a great book! I am a math major who eventually wants to get my Ph.D. and this book motivated me to be better in school!
Love, Theoretically is a great book for those who want something fun and exciting to read. I loved this book so much for a fun read that took me out of my head. It was perfect for the time of life that I was in!

2. Anna And The French Kiss By Stephanie Perkins
Oh. My. Goodness. I could read this book once a month for the rest of my life and I wouldn’t get annoyed by it. I know if you are a reader, and have been for a long time, then you have probably read this book. But I cannot stop talking about this book!
All of Stephanie Perkins’s books are happy books that have very few sad parts. I love this book for something easy that makes you feel giddy and happy!
