How I Increased My Income With These 3 Side Hustles in 2025

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. Read a really boring disclaimer above to learn more!

The general rule for side hustles is that if you can’t decrease your spending anymore and you still don’t have enough money to survive, then you need to increase your income. But it is also nice to have some extra money for savings, experiences, and luxuries that make life more fun!

Side hustles are very personal and unique to different individuals, but the ones I share today are what I use to afford little luxuries and not feel guilty about.

This Post is All About Side Hustles

1st Side Hustle: Tutoring

Now, this one comes a little more easily to me because I am a Math teacher, but I have found it super lucrative. Find people with kids who need help in an area where you are strong, and boom, you have started a tutoring business.

If you can make yourself convenient for the parents by meeting them at their local library or their home then you will have clients coming left, right, and center.

I can tutor out of my classroom, but over the summer I am also meeting students at the library for a great compromise.

You will need to know how to price yourself. May start with making a chart depending on grade level and age where the price goes up for more difficult content and by age. I started with $30/hour for middle school students and $15/hour/student for group tutoring.

Group tutoring is a great opportunity because it takes a little bit of the social pressure off if you are nervous. This is where I make the most money because I can have up to 10 students, in my experience, and they are also able to help each other.

To create more value, have a way to print off worksheets or copy from a workbook so that parents don’t have to think about what the student needs help with. With older kids, this isn’t as much of an issue because teachers usually provide extra resources.

You can also buy some math games for younger students to build number sense.

Here is my guide for resources for Math Tutors to get you started!

Having A Blog

I won’t lie… Having a blog is a long game. It is kinda expensive in the long run too. After almost two years I have finally started to profit. While I have not been the most consistent, it has been super fun.

Going back to old blog posts and seeing how far I’ve come is so fun. There is always something you can do, and you can spend as much or as little time as you want.

Blogging has taught me so many skills that will be transferable to other areas of my life! Including time management…

I can’t stress this enough, this will not be a get-rich-quick project. It will take a long time for the most part. Some blogging courses are expensive and it is hard to know where to focus you’re time.

But I love it. I love that even when I need a break my blog will still make money. I love that I can write about things I find interesting. I love that it shows so much of my personality. I love that it gives me something productive to do while watching TV.

I love everything about blogging, even when I get tired of it or I feel like I am losing so much money.

Investing

Now, again this is a long game for me. You have to have patience for this.

Going to the stock market and letting your money sit for a long time is a skill that you have to practice, but it does earn a decent amount of money.

Now, for me, I don’t take money out. Sometimes I will open a separate brokerage account to save for a big purchase, but that is risky.

You can also make money off of dividends so you don’t have to touch the principal.

I suggest going down a rabbit hole and researching a ton. That’s kinda the fun part. If you have ADHD, this is where you will thrive. You can buy a million different stocks. Looking into them all and seeing your research either pay off or not is thrilling.

You could also learn some day trading which can be a thrilling activity.

This tip should come with caution tape because I don’t want you to lose all of your money. Find some ETFs that are relatively stable at the beginning to get the hang of it. Follow what the big guys are buying, keep a notebook, and take notes.
